Position: Manager, QA Test The Catalyst programme is a global transformation initiative modernising Audit and Assurance through scalable technology, standardised ways of working and improved delivery quality. The purpose of this position is to own and lead the quality assurance and test management approach for Audit within the Catalyst programme, ensuring high-quality, well-controlled and release-ready technology outcomes.
The role is accountable for the end-to-end test strategy, governance, planning, execution and reporting across Catalyst Audit delivery, including functional, integration, regression, user acceptance and business readiness testing. The QA Test Manager will drive continuous improvement by strengthening test coverage, improving defect prevention, increasing automation and adopting approved AI-enabled testing practices to accelerate feedback cycles and reduce low-value manual effort. The role will work closely with the equivalent QA and testing peer in Global IT to align standards, tooling, reusable assets and lessons learned across domains and programmes.
Key accountabilities The priorities for this position are to establish consistent QA standards, provide disciplined test governance, improve delivery confidence and give clear visibility of release quality and risk. This includes the following accountability areas: Strategy and Planning Develop and maintain the Catalyst Audit QA framework, including test standards, processes, tooling, evidence expectations and entry and exit criteria. Provide clear quality reporting using Azure DevOps, test tooling and dashboards to show progress, defects, release readiness, automation coverage and quality risk.
Champion quality standards and assurance disciplines across Catalyst Audit delivery teams, vendors and business stakeholders. Govern test planning, execution, defect management, release acceptance and quality gates across Catalyst Audit releases. Align with the Global IT QA peer on test strategy, tooling, reporting, reusable assets and ways of working.
Communicate test progress, defect position, risks, dependencies and release readiness to Catalyst leadership, Audit and Assurance stakeholders and delivery teams. Drive continuous improvement through stronger regression packs, automation, approved AI-enabled testing opportunities, defect prevention and lessons learned. Identify practical AI use cases to accelerate testing, including test case generation, regression prioritisation, synthetic test data, defect clustering, root cause analysis and automated reporting.
Operational Delivery Monitor testing progress, defect ageing, environment readiness, data readiness and delivery dependencies. Assess test coverage, defect trends, business acceptance evidence and release readiness against agreed quality outcomes. Lead defect triage and root cause analysis, working with Product Owners, engineers, vendors, business analysts and Audit SMEs to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Use approved AI-enabled analysis to identify defect patterns, prioritise high-risk scenarios and reduce repetitive manual analysis. Ensure solutions are tested against requirements, acceptance criteria, audit methodology expectations, performance needs and release standards. Validate adherence to Catalyst test standards, evidence requirements and Audit release governance.
Provide day-to-day test leadership for dedicated Catalyst Audit QA resources and matrix-managed vendor, engineering and business testing contributors. Quality Standards Define and continuously improve test standards, quality gates and assurance processes for Catalyst Audit delivery. Embed effective testing practices, including Agile, DevOps, automation, AI-assisted testing and risk-based testing.
Maintain core QA documentation, including test plans, regression packs, automation assets, AI-assisted testing guidance, defect processes and release evidence. Support assurance evidence for governance, internal controls, security, data protection and external review expectations. Provide guidance on testing standards, defect management, evidence capture, AI guardrails and release readiness.
Support onboarding and coaching for Catalyst QA resources, promoting consistent ways of working with product, engineering and Global IT peer teams. Qualifications, Experience, Skills The holder of this position should have the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance, test management or quality engineering roles. Experience implementing QA processes, test strategies, quality gates, metrics and reporting in large-scale transformation or enterprise technology programmes.
Knowledge of test automation, Azure DevOps or equivalent tooling, defect management, regression testing and release readiness reporting. Experience with Agile, DevOps and product-based delivery, preferably in audit, assurance, financial services or regulated technology environments. Professional certification in quality management, software testing or Agile delivery desirable.
Experience leading testing across product owners, engineering teams, vendors, business analysts and Audit subject matter experts. Experience aligning with peer QA or quality engineering leaders to share standards, reusable assets and lessons learned. Awareness of AI-enabled testing practices, including test case generation, intelligent regression selection, defect analytics, synthetic test data and human-in-the-loop validation.
Skills and Capabilities The holder of this position should demonstrate the following skills and capabilities: Strong knowledge of quality assurance, test management, software testing and risk-based testing practices. Ability to define and implement Audit testing standards, quality gates, governance routines and reporting. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate testing data, defect trends and quality metrics into actionable insight.
Strong assurance, documentation and evidence management skills for governance reviews and release decisions. Excellent stakeholder communication, test leadership, peer alignment and matrix management skills. Ability to manage complex Catalyst Audit releases while remaining organised, detail oriented and focused on quality risk.
