Summary

As the Business Intelligence Manager at Firefly, you will provide hands‑on leadership for our data analytics strategy, driving cross‑functional initiatives that transform raw data into actionable insights. You'll build and manage a talented team of BI Analysts and Data Engineers, establishing a data‑driven culture that enables strategic decision‑making throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Business Intelligence team, including BI Analysts and Data Engineers, setting clear objectives, managing performance, and fostering professional growth.
  • Partner with executives across Engineering, Operations, HR, Finance, Sales, and other departments to identify critical business questions and develop analytics strategies that drive operational excellence.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of Firefly's data architecture, including Power BI Fabric deployment, Azure‑based data models, and analytics pipelines that enable cross‑functional reporting.
  • Establish data governance frameworks, KPI standardization, and metric definitions to ensure consistent reporting and reliable decision‑making across the organization.
  • Drive the creation of executive‑level dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights for strategic planning, performance monitoring, and operational optimization.
  • Champion data literacy across the organization, facilitating training and knowledge‑sharing to help stakeholders effectively leverage analytics tools and insights.
  • Demonstrated BI expertise by designing and deploying enterprise dashboards for management and executive leadership.
  • Manage budget, resource allocation, and technology selection for the BI function, ensuring optimal ROI on analytics investments.
  • Establish data security protocols and access controls to protect sensitive information while enabling appropriate data democratization.
  • Lead the development of predictive analytics and AI/ML initiatives that advance Firefly's capabilities in forecasting, optimization, and process automation.
  • Travel between Firefly's Texas facilities (HQ in Cedar Park, Rocket Ranch in Briggs, and Spacecraft facility in Leander) to maintain close collaboration with teams across locations.

Qualifications – Required

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or data engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling analytics teams that deliver measurable business impact.
  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI, including enterprise‑scale implementations, DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of cloud‑based data architectures, with experience in Azure services including Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, and SQL databases.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for executive audiences and articulate the business value of data initiatives.
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks, including data quality management, metadata management, and security protocols.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications – Desired

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Data Science, or related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other high‑reliability industries.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and experience leading cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Background in AI/ML implementation for business applications.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices in a data analytics context.
  • Experience with change management and organizational transformation.
