About the role As a Lead Business Analyst, you’ll empower public sector organisations to design services that make a real difference in society.
You’ll lead by example, guiding teams with best practices, and oversee multiple client assignments, ensuring impactful outcomes across every project. You’ll help teams create products and services that truly benefit their users by identifying key business challenges and opportunities. You’ll dive deep into research to understand the public sector landscape and its people, processes, technology, and organisational dynamics, elicit and analyse business and user needs, uncover areas for improvement and evaluate the feasibility of different options, while thoughtfully assessing the business and policy constraints that need to be taken into account.
Key Responsibilities Take responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organisational change. Select, adopt and adapt appropriate business analysis methods, tools and techniques, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan‑driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
Prepare business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks. Work in a self‑initiated manner, modelling leadership in a collaborative and inclusive manner. Collaborate and influence the wider Made Tech team and our clients to deliver high‑quality work aligned with our customers’ vision and needs.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Agile working, coaching and leading teams in Agile and Lean practices, and determining the right approach for the team. Business modelling, setting the direction of scope and methodology for representing complex situations, and documenting conceptual models to support strategic planning. Business process improvement, identifying opportunities to perform activities in alternative ways, leading exploration of process efficiency improvements, and overseeing implementation.
Business process testing, directing the application of business analysis skills to support design, execution and assessment of business process tests and usability evaluations. Consultancy (business analysis), providing advice, guidance and recommendations, proposing methodologies and approaches to implementation, framing problems and troubleshooting as needed. Enterprise and business architecture, translating business drivers into objectives, defining required capabilities, and supporting organisational changes to meet business objectives.
Methods and tools, setting direction, assessing effectiveness of approaches, recommending tools for organisational collaboration and building capability. Requirements definition and management, directing approach to requirements management, influencing prioritisation of complex requirement sets, and ensuring solutions align with organisational vision. Stakeholder relationship management, developing engagement strategies, leading communication with stakeholders, and acting as point of consultation and escalation to resolve conflict.
Systems analysis, setting direction for identification and analysis of IT system capabilities, identifying gaps in functionality, and bringing business and technical concepts together to form recommendations. Testing (business analysis), recommending value of testing, advising on business scenarios, and developing acceptance criteria to ensure requirements can be traced to develop functionality. Experience helping grow product teams through community, hiring and line management.
Working with sales teams to build client relationships, develop opportunities and win new work. Working in the open – building trust within teams to share little and often. Experience in re‑designing legacy services and products.
Maintaining a deep working knowledge of Business Analysis and research techniques. SC Eligibility All successful candidates for this role must have eligibility for a Security Clearance (SC) of 5 years’ continuous UK residency and 5 years’ employment history (or back to full‑time education). If at any point during the interview process it becomes apparent that you are not eligible for SC, the application will not progress.
