Job Description As a Firmware Test engineer, you will be responsible to deliver quality output by executing product firmware testing with laser focus on quality and adherence to project schedules. You will work in a cross‑functional team environment to debug and resolve technical issues. The candidate should handle projects independently and drive solutions.
You will also bring up a test automation framework for managing various optical instruments using third‑party vendor libraries and build product drivers, test cases from scratch for optical performance tests. Your Responsibilities Deliver quality output by executing firmware testing with focus on quality and adherence to project schedules, and scope, plan and execute test strategy in an Agile environment. Execute test activities for sustenance releases to address field issues, feature enhancements, critical defect fixes through a mix of white‑box and black‑box testing.
Bring up or manage a test automation framework utilizing optical instruments (OSA, oscilloscope, VOA, optical switch, wave shaper, etc.) using third‑party vendor libraries; build product drivers and test cases from scratch for optical performance tests. Collaborate with HW, ASIC, FW, ODVT and SW teams and proactively derive practical fixes to be merged into the development code base for sustainence releases. Perform root‑cause analysis for customer‑found defects and enhance test plans to cover customer scenarios.
Ensure world‑class quality for product and features being tested. Key Skills and Experience BS/MS with internship/co‑op experience in telecom product testing for embedded systems, including DWDM/ROADM and transponder/muxponder technologies, with strong knowledge of standards such as OTN, SONET/SDH, and Ethernet. Solid understanding of next‑generation client and line‑side coherent optics (QSFP‑DD, OSFP) supporting 100G‑to‑800G traffic; demonstrated experience testing carrier‑class telecom products in cross‑functional, geographically distributed teams; ability to define test strategies, plans, and participate in requirements, design, and test reviews.
Hands‑on experience using optical test equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, VOAs, wave shapers, EDFAs, optical switches, and traffic generators. Strong background in Python (pytest preferred), test automation frameworks, defect tracking systems, and test repositories; familiarity with JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Git, and bug tracking tools. Proven technical leadership, excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, quick‑learning, self‑starter mindset; experience with AI tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and GenAI applications is a plus.
