IT Engineer
Float
Job Description
About the Role Weâre looking for an IT Engineer to join Float and own the internal systems, workflows, and support operations that keep our teams moving. This role is critical to how Float scales: youâll support the day-to-day technology experience our employees rely on, while also building the processes, automations, and system foundations that reduce manual work and improve reliability over time. This is not a pure help desk seat.
Youâll be handsâon in employee support, Mac administration, SaaS tooling, onboarding and offboarding, and access managementâbut your success will come from how effectively you turn recurring operational work into documented, scalable, increasingly automated systems. Youâll play a key role in helping Float mature its IT function over the next 12 months, especially across workflow automation, process standardization, and internal systems quality. What Youâll Do Own employee onboarding and offboarding workflows across key systems, with a strong bias toward endâtoâend automation and operational reliability Administer and improve Floatâs core internal tooling, including identity, productivity, MDM, collaboration, and access systems Provide onsite and remote support for Mac hardware, software, office systems, and employee productivity issues Build and maintain practical automations that reduce manual work, improve consistency, and help the IT function scale Partner closely with teams like People and Recruiting to design clear, durable support and provisioning processes Document businessâcritical IT workflows so they are repeatable, understandable, and not dependent on tribal knowledge Support office technology, WiFi, and AV systems to ensure a reliable inâoffice experience Collaborate with security and risk partners to strengthen endpoint hygiene, access controls, and operational compliance About You Hereâs what sets you up for success at Float: You Put Customers First, Always.
You care deeply about the employee experience and understand that internal systems quality affects how well the whole business performs. You Act Like an Owner. You do not wait to be told every next step.
You take responsibility for outcomes, build structure where it is missing, and move work forward with good judgment. You Think Big and Move Fast. You can handle urgent support needs, but you also look for root causes, recurring patterns, and opportunities to automate or redesign how work gets done.
You Constantly Learn and Grow. You are curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems, tools, and ways of workingâincluding AIâenabled workflows that create real leverage. You Raise the Bar.
You care about clarity, operational quality, and building processes that scale. You do not settle for recurring chaos when a better system can be built. You Win as a Team.
You communicate clearly with technical and nonâtechnical stakeholders alike, build trust across functions, and make it easier for others to do great work. Youâll likely thrive here if you enjoy turning messy operational realities into cleaner systems, balancing immediate support with longerâterm improvement, and working in an environment where ownership and adaptability matter more than handâholding. What Youâll Bring Years of experience. 5+ years in IT support, systems administration, or internal IT engineering roles, ideally in fastâmoving environments where you had meaningful ownership Automation and scripting depth.
Handsâon experience using scripting or programming languages such as Python to automate internal workflows and reduce manual operational work Internal systems range. Strong experience with tools like Google Workspace, Okta, MDM platforms, collaboration tools, and access management systems Endpoint and office support. Solid handsâon experience supporting Apple hardware, employee productivity tooling, WiFi, and office technology environments Process and systems thinking.
A track record of documenting, standardizing, and improving businessâcritical internal workflows like onboarding, offboarding, and provisioning Judgment and communication. Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, tradeâoffs, and risks in simple, practical language AIâenabled working style. Credible examples of using AI in real workflows to improve speed, clarity, troubleshooting, or automation outcomes This may not be the role for you if...
You prefer highly defined tasks and close dayâtoâday direction over independent ownership You enjoy reactive support work but not building systems, documentation, or automation to reduce it You are not comfortable working in a hybrid Torontoâbased role with regular inâoffice support expectations You struggle to communicate clearly with nonâtechnical stakeholders or to influence crossâfunctional process changes You are uncomfortable with ambiguity, changing priorities, or wearing multiple hats in a lean environment You view AI as optional, theoretical, or not relevant to how modern internal operations should work Why You Should Join Work at one of Canadaâs fastestâgrowing fintech companies Make a real impact in a highâautonomy, highâgrowth role Collaborate with an ambitious and supportive team Competitive compensation, equity options, and benefits Hybrid work model â we are based in Toronto with inâoffice days for connection and collaboration Enjoy catered team lunches every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Bring your pup to our dogâfriendly office Thrive in a highâtrust, highâperformance culture where your work truly matters In Short At Float, youâll thrive if youâre bold, curious, and eager to make a real impact.
