The Impact You Will Have As an IT Business Analyst you will be the trusted partner to the business and the single point of accountability for guiding an IT request from its first conversation through to a successfully delivered solution.
You will own the full journey: assess business needs, identify and quantify desired outcomes, elicit and document requirements, collaborate with delivery teams, and evaluate results. Your work will drive pipeline visibility, prioritize recommendations, and create clear solutions that deliver on expectations. What You’ll Do Request Intake & Qualification Engage with business stakeholders to understand the opportunity and desired outcomes.
Assess and validate requests for business value, strategic alignment, feasibility, and risk. Maintain an up‑to‑date view of the IT request pipeline and communicate status to stakeholders and leadership. Apply consistent scoring and prioritization frameworks to support data‑backed investment decisions.
Identify and flag duplicate, redundant, or conflicting requests. Requirements & Solution Definition Elicit, analyze, and document functional and non‑functional requirements through workshops, interviews, and sessions. Produce high‑quality BRDs, process flows, user stories, and use cases aligned to Agile or Waterfall delivery.
Conduct current‑state analysis and gap assessments to define the desired future state. Collaborate with solution architects, developers, and SMEs to validate designs and maintain traceability. Delivery Support & Validation Define and lead UAT, including test plans, scripts, and coordination with business SMEs.
Support training, change management, and post‑go‑live adoption. Track delivery progress, surface risks, and keep stakeholders informed. Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Application Governance & Portfolio Visibility Maintain an accurate inventory of enterprise applications. Support oversight of IT contracts and vendor relationships. Identify gaps between current capabilities and evolving business demand.
Correlate IT spend to service value and support investment decisions. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Relationships Act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for business stakeholders on active initiatives. Facilitate workshops, steering meetings, and cross‑functional sessions.
Build deep knowledge of supported business units to add strategic value. Organize and present findings, recommendations, and updates clearly. Process Improvement & Insight Identify and champion opportunities to improve IT and business processes.
Define measurement frameworks and track outcomes. Support development of scorecards and KPIs for IT service delivery. Source, analyze, and visualize data to validate business cases and inform decisions.
Produce self‑serve analytics with Power BI, Excel, or equivalent. Technology & AI Fluency Use AI‑assisted tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Claude) to accelerate documentation and analysis. Evaluate automation and AI opportunities and present viable use cases.
Use technology tools responsibly, ensuring data validity, confidentiality, and policy alignment. What You’ll Bring To The Table 5+ years of progressive experience in Business Analysis, IT Analysis, Demand Intake, or related role. Proven ability to manage an IT request or project from intake to delivery.
Hands‑on experience producing BRDs, process flows, user stories, and UAT artifacts. Experience in both project‑based and BAU contexts. Experience with application governance, IT asset inventory, or vendor oversight is a strong asset.
Experience with enterprise platform implementations (ERP, CRM, ITSM) or large transformation programs is an asset. Skills & Competencies Strong business acumen and ability to quickly understand objectives and pain points. Structured analytical thinking and clear, value‑driven recommendations.
Exceptional communication skills, comfortable presenting to senior leadership and facilitating workshops. High documentation quality with minimal rework. Comfortable operating with ambiguity and competing priorities.
Self‑directed, proactive, and capable of autonomous and collaborative work. Technical Familiarity Proficiency with requirements management and collaboration tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps). Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint; SharePoint familiarity is an asset.
Working knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Excel pivot/dashboard). Fluency with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall/SDLC frameworks. Working knowledge of BPMN 2.0 or similar process documentation standards.
Exposure to enterprise platforms (ERP, CRM, ITSM/ServiceNow) is a strong asset. Education & Credentials Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred. CBAP or CCBA designation preferred; candidates working toward certification considered.
PMP, ITIL Foundation, or Agile certification (CSM, PMI‑ACP) is an asset. Compensation A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range in Canada is $69,750 to $93,000 annually, plus 8% as target incentives. Actual salary will depend on location, experience, skill set, education, and certification.
