Job Description
High Voltage Electrical Engineer Working pattern: remote (occasional visits to site in Helensburgh) Altrad are currently looking for a driven HV Electrical Engineer to join the team. About the role: We are looking for an Electrical Engineer experienced in High Voltage (HV) to support the technical capability of the Design Authority (DA). This role will be suited to engineers with experience in HV Electrical Design, although candidates experienced in HV Electrical Installation or Maintenance are also welcomed.
Key Deliverables: Technical excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure. Specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure. Assessment of work control procedures for maintenance of infrastructure.
Assessment of infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to permit the continued operation of facilities and utilities. Discharge and display a robust safety and security culture. Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.
Key Requirements / Qualifications: Essential Broad experience in electrical engineering, with experience of some of the following systems; power distribution networks, diesel alternators, substations & Switching arrangements, Protection & Control schemes and Earthing & bonding systems. Ability to provide practical, creative and cost-effective solutions for design changes / modifications of plant and supporting Infrastructure. A good understanding of British and international design standards.
A track record of making intelligent evidence based decisions using various sources of data. Good skills in verbal and written communication. The ability to effectively manage and prioritise your own workload.
Detailed knowledge of the Design Intent for Electrical Infrastructure in the nuclear industry or similar industry HNC or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline Desirable Experience of working within the nuclear industry or any other high hazard industry, although this is not considered essential. Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent experience and standing Degree or equivalent qualifications and experience in a relevant engineering discipline About us We are the leading provider of infrastructure services.
