Location: Edmonton Our Company: Willowglen Systems is a leading industrial automation company that provides innovative solutions for various industries, including rail, oil and gas, and energy. Our teams specialize in designing, integrating, and commissioning complex operational technologies including control systems, communications networks, and safety‑critical infrastructure. Position Summary We are looking for a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to lead our Human Resources function and play a key role in shaping our workplace culture.

As the organization’s primary HR resource, you will partner with leadership to attract, develop, and retain top talent while providing hands‑on support across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and employee development. This is a 1‑year temporary position with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role based on business needs and performance. Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, and offer preparation. Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new employees. Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and support workforce planning initiatives.

Monitor turnover, recruitment metrics, and workforce trends to support business objectives. Compensation & Benefits Administer employee compensation programs and benefits plans. Coordinate annual salary reviews and compensation benchmarking activities.

Liaise with benefits providers and resolve employee benefit inquiries. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, workplace regulations, and company policies. Maintain employee records and HR documentation.

Monitor legislative changes and recommend policy updates as needed. Training & Development Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development programs. Support leadership development and employee skill‑building initiatives.

Maintain training records and compliance certifications. Payroll Support Maintain employee records related to compensation, leave, and employment status changes. Prepare and submit payroll‑related updates, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and leave information.

Track and reconcile vacation, sick leave, and other absences for payroll purposes. Employee Relations Act as the primary HR contact for employee and manager concerns. Support employee engagement, performance management, and conflict resolution.

Provide guidance on workplace policies and employment‑related matters. Conduct investigations and support disciplinary and corrective action processes as required. HR Administration Manage HRIS, employee files, and confidential records.

Prepare HR reports, metrics, and workforce analytics. Administer leave management, attendance tracking, and related programs. Key Qualifications & Experience Post‑secondary diploma or certificate in Human Resources Management or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

CPHR Designation (or working towards). Minimum 5 years of experience in progressively responsible HR roles. Strong leadership skills, analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to balance strategic thinking with day‑to‑day operational responsibilities. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of discretion and confidentiality.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience managing multiple HR disciplines independently. Experience with performance management and investigations.
