Job Description

A well-funded aerospace pioneer is seeking a Senior Avionics Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical subsystems for a new class of high-precision orbital return vehicles. This organization is focused on the complex challenge of autonomous atmospheric entry and hardware recovery, bridging the gap between orbital operations and Earth-side logistics. The successful candidate will be a cornerstone of the electronics group, responsible for the hardware that guides, controls, and recovers next‑generation spacecraft.

Core Responsibilities Electrical Architecture: Develop and implement robust electrical architectures, including schematic capture and multi‑layer PCBA layout for flight‑critical systems. Harness Design: Design custom, high‑reliability electrical harnesses and oversee their physical construction for space‑grade environments. Ground Support & HITL: Build and support electrical ground equipment (EGSE) and test hardware, including Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) and FlatSat configurations.

Systems Integration: Partner with GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control), Software, and Aerodynamics teams to ensure seamless hardware/firmware synchronization. Root‑Cause Analysis: Lead troubleshooting and failure analysis for complex electronics issues within both flight and ground systems. Candidate Requirements Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in avionics or high‑reliability electronics, with a proven track record in the aerospace industry.

Technical Breadth: Strong background in full‑lifecycle hardware development— from initial architecture through to flight‑ready production. Testing Proficiency: Practical experience with HITL testing environments and validating systems for extreme environmental conditions. Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work across disciplines, translating complex aerodynamic and GNC requirements into functional electrical hardware.

Regulatory Compliance: Ability to work on ITAR‑regulated technology (U.S. Person status). #J-18808-Ljbffr
