Job Title: Hardware Engineer – Space Power SystemsJob Description Responsibilities Contribute to the definition and refinement of space power system-level requirements for electrical power storage subsystems. Design electrical power storage hardware, including batteries, voltage conversion and conditioning circuits, charge and discharge control, and related fault protection and management circuitry. Develop integration plans for electrical power storage equipment and ensure seamless integration with spacecraft avionics and other subsystems.

Create detailed test plans and procedures to verify and validate electrical power storage equipment performance and reliability. Design and implement test systems and setups using appropriate test equipment to validate hardware designs under representative operating conditions. Contribute to interface control documents between electrical power distribution hardware and other spacecraft subsystems, ensuring clear and robust electrical and data interfaces.

Collaborate with suppliers to select components and systems that meet design, performance, and reliability requirements, and manage procurement of those items. Evaluate supplier issues, identify risks, and develop recovery strategies to maintain program schedules and technical performance. Support milestone reviews across design, manufacturing, test, and operations phases by providing technical input, documentation, and status updates.

Communicate project progress, technical status, and potential issues clearly and proactively to stakeholders and leadership. Perform additional related engineering duties as assigned to support the broader avionics and power storage team. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 7+ years of experience in power storage system design, integration, and test.

Strong background in hardware design for electrical power storage applications. Hands‑on experience with batteries and battery management systems (BMS), including design and implementation. Proficiency in electrical, analog, and digital circuit design related to power storage and power electronics.

Experience with hardware test and validation of electrical power storage systems. Proficient use of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic load banks, power supplies, and power analyzers. Experience with integration and test of electrical power storage hardware within larger systems.

Ability to develop and execute comprehensive test plans and integration strategies for power storage equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with electrical power storage systems in aerospace or similarly demanding environments. Familiarity with creating and maintaining interface control documents for electrical power distribution hardware.

Experience collaborating with external suppliers on component and system selection, issue resolution, and recovery planning. background in supporting design, manufacturing, test, and operations milestone reviews. Strong communication skills to convey technical status, risks, and progress to stakeholders and leadership. Ability to work effectively in a senior capacity, providing technical support across a broad range of electronics and power storage activities.

Work Environment This role is part of an avionics-focused team, working closely with a power storage group that supports spacecraft electronics. You will operate in a collaborative engineering environment with access to typical electronics laboratories and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic load banks, power supplies, and power analyzers. The position involves hands‑on work with hardware, participation in design and test reviews, and close interaction with multidisciplinary engineering teams and suppliers.

The work setting emphasizes high reliability, rigorous testing, and adherence to aerospace‑quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
