Job Description

Job Responsibilities Financial Management Develop annual business plan and budget with Market Leadership. Prepare annual operational and personnel budgets. Communicate company and market strategies to staff and interpret goals into actionable plans.

Monitor financial trends with Finance Field Manager and approve expenditures and invoices. Manage overtime expense within acceptable limits. Operations Oversee day‑to‑day operations, delegate workload, set priorities to achieve annual goals.

Review and revise schedules to ensure on‑time services that exceed customer expectations. Resolve escalated customer issues and ensure compliance with regulations, procedures and policies. Collaborate with local management on resource sharing, ideas, and operational enhancements.

Participate in community and promotional activities as part of local marketing efforts. Maintain facilities and grounds, budgeting for repairs, equipment and furniture. Plan and implement annual initiatives affecting resources or goals across locations.

Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve efficiencies. Support change initiatives and adapt to new work structures or processes. Funeral Arrangements & Directing Receive or initiate calls to deceased next of kin, express empathy, and facilitate arrangements conference.

Discuss available life insurance, benefits, and available services such as cemetery, cremation, catering, flowers, music, and Everlasting Memory products. Promote relevant services and merchandise. Preside as Master of Ceremonies for visitation, funeral, or graveside services with professionalism and compassion.

Confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements. Ensure casket placement and removal of personal belongings per arrangements. Leadership and People Development Build a strong, trusting, and reliable team; provide oversight, guidance, and coaching.

Track developmental needs and progress, align assignments with career aspirations. Use a proactive, collaborative management style to increase engagement and reduce turnover. Screen, hire, promote staff, and recommend pay increases and career advancements.

Build effective relationships across the organization. Minimum Requirements Education - High school diploma or equivalent; Technical diploma in Funeral Services or Mortuary Science preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science or state required degree. Certification / License - Funeral Director license required by state law.

Experience - At least five (5) years in the industry with increasing responsibilities; at least two (2) years guiding staff and communicating expectations; preferred prior people management and budgeting experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Work evenings and weekends; conversant in industry financial acumen. Proficient MS Office; experience with HMIS, InfoPort, CarePoint.

Strong interpersonal, cultural sensitivity, tactfulness; public speaking and negotiation. Analytical thinking, problem‑solving, planning, and decision‑making skills. Positive attitude, self‑motivated; ability to create clear presentations and visualizations.

Compensation & Benefits Annual salary: $75,000 per year. RRSP matching. Health, dental, and other benefits.
