Job Description
We have an awesome Estates Manager covering a 12‑month period while our regular manager is on leave. This role will focus primarily on the Emersons Green Headquarters, with occasional responsibilities at the Filton sites. Responsibilities Accountable for infrastructure and day‑to‑day facilities operations across both sites, ensuring all sites meet agreed facilities standards and service levels.
Lead hard services, soft services, workplace and business support operations in‑house and oversee external teams across NCC locations. Serve as primary Emergency Manager, owning emergency response and business continuity site plans. Lead a team of four direct reports and eight indirect reports, driving team development.
Collaborate with Health & Safety and project teams to align projects with workplace standards. Support senior leadership and key stakeholders to meet NCC’s strategic development plan. Manage facilities budgets, monitor expenditure, and partner with Procurement to deliver commercial value.
Improve maintenance standards and overall upkeep of buildings, infrastructure and grounds. Act as the Accountable Person for safe work environments, supporting NCC H&S policies. Oversee vendor and contractor management, ensuring compliance with NCC standards.
Ensure facilities meet all relevant legislative requirements and represent Estates operations in ISO accreditation processes. Drive continuous improvement and embed standards, systems and technology. Qualifications 5+ years in a similar estates or facilities management role, ideally with R&D or high‑risk environments.
In‑depth knowledge of estates and facilities management principles, theory and practice. Extensive, up‑to‑date knowledge of key estates topics such as CDM, Building Regulations, Contractor Control, PUWER, LOLER, electrical safety, and security. Operational planning, management, and business process skills.
Knowledge of estates/facilities software systems. Experience managing multiple sites, hard and soft services, and business services. Full membership of RICS, IWFM or similar is desirable.
Experience working in and/or establishing a secure facility is desirable. Benefits Salary: £54,102 to £67,056 per annum (experience dependent). Employer pension contribution up to 12.5%.
