What the role is all about: Were seeking Engineer - EDGE Platform who will play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling REAs edge security and content delivery capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of platform engineering, cloud, networking and security, with a strong focus on building resilient, reusable and well-governed edge platform capabilities for teams across REA.
Youll help define and evolve our EDGE platform strategy across CDN, WAF, bot management, DNS and traffic management, while applying platform thinking to create paved-road solutions that are secure, scalable and simple for product and engineering teams to adopt. Youll combine deep technical expertise with operational discipline, leveraging automation, observability and incident response practices to improve reliability and customer outcomes. This is your chance to work on impactful projects that directly influence availability, performance and security for customer-facing experiences at scale.
Youll work with modern tooling and collaborate with engineers across infrastructure, security and product teams in a large, complex technology environment. While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include: Build, operate and continuously improve edge platform capabilities across CDN, WAF, DDoS protection, bot management, DNS and traffic management. Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of Akamai and Kasada capabilities to enhance security, reliability and performance.
Use Terraform to create and maintain reusable infrastructure and platform components with a strong focus on consistency, automation and safe adoption. Troubleshoot production issues across edge, network and cloud layers, and contribute to remediation and long-term improvements. Take ownership of assigned deliverables and contribute to team OKRs and platform goals.
Share knowledge with teammates and continuously grow capability in edge engineering, cloud networking and infrastructure automation. Who were looking for: Hands-on experience in cloud, platform, network or edge engineering roles, with a strong interest in building and operating production systems. Experience with CDN and edge technologies, ideally including Akamai for CDN, WAF and DDoS protection.
Exposure to bot management platforms such as Kasada, or similar capabilities used to reduce automated abuse. Good understanding of AWS, networking, DNS, TLS, traffic routing and internet-facing systems. Experience using Terraform and infrastructure as code to build and manage reusable cloud infrastructure.
Proficiency in Python and/or Go for automation, tooling and operational improvements. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across distributed systems using logs, metrics, tracing and monitoring tools. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Accountability for delivery, learning mindset and willingness to take ownership of tasks and outcomes. Bonus Points for: Experience on internal platform capabilities that improve developer experience and adoption through self-service patterns. Exposure to edge security policy management, rate limiting, API protection or zero trust patterns.
Experience in high-scale internet platforms where performance, availability and abuse prevention are critical. Familiarity with compliance, governance or risk controls in cloud and edge environments. What we offer: A hybrid and flexible approach to working.
