Electrical Engineer

Overview

Shive-Hattery's Chicago office has an opening for an Electrical Engineer with 3 to 8 years of experience. This full-time position is for a motivated individual who already is licensed or plans on acquiring a professional engineering license.

We are looking for someone who thrives on the fast-paced nature of commercial projects and values working closely with other talented professionals dedicated to providing a great experience to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical engineering emphasis
• Experience in 3D modeling, Revit preferred. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is desired
• Collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
• Electrical design for building systems including power distribution, LED and custom lighting design, Life Safety Systems, as well as data/communications
• Work in diverse markets including Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, Education, Government and Healthcare facilities
• Work under the direction of a senior engineer towards the design and document production of building systems using 3D Revit modeling software
• Visit project construction sites to assist with measuring, data collection and construction observation duties
• Manage time and workload effectively, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail

Qualifications

• Experience with design of lighting, power, and low-voltage systems desired
• Graduated from an accredited engineering school in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in Revit is preferred. A desire to learn Autodesk Revit is required
• Have taken and passed, or intent to take, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
