Responsibilities Director of Nursing Opportunity now offering a $10,000 Sign‑on Bonus! Oak Plains Academy is a comprehensive and highly structured residential treatment program offering psychiatric residential treatment services to children and adolescents ages 7–17, struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Located on 20 acres of rolling hills in a rural setting, about 45 minutes from Nashville, Tennessee, the campus features a full‑size gymnasium, dining hall, separate academic building, and four dormitories.

Our wooded campus provides an excellent opportunity for outdoor recreational activities. Residents receive an individualized treatment plan, geared to meet their personal needs. A professional team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, and teachers serve hundreds of children and adolescents annually with the common goal of treating and healing trauma and building resiliency in the residents we serve.

Visit us online at https://oakplainsacademy.com/ The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for organizing and administering the facility’s nursing services, including establishing goals, developing policies and procedures, and ensuring an adequate number and qualifications of staff are available to perform nursing services. The DON is responsible for the Infection Control (IC) program, including developing policies, establishing surveillance criteria, collecting data, and implementing educational or corrective measures as needed. The DON must be familiar with legal and ethical aspects of health care services, have the ability to direct and instruct employees in duties, techniques, and principles, and maintain a good working relationship with other departments.

Current license to practice nursing in Tennessee. Minimum Associate of Science in Nursing; Master of Science in Nursing preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral‑health nursing clinical practices and management.

Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient‑care activities. Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership skills that contribute to a positive work environment.
