Development & Communications Coordinator Reports to: Executive Director Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt (20 hours/week) Compensation: $27/hour Schedule: Hybrid (on-site in North Portland + remote flexibility) Compensation Package Starting Pay Rate $27/hour 7 paid holidays accrued annually; prorated for 0.5 FTE Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 401(k) Plan (pre- and post-tax options available) Free RBC Education Class attendance (materials fees may apply) 20% ReBuilding Center store discount Position Summary The Development & Communications Coordinator executes ReBuilding Center's communications and fundraising through clear, effective content that drives visibility, engagement, and support. This role turns organizational priorities into outward facing communications that strengthen community awareness, deepen donor relationships, and reflect program impact across retail, education, and advocacy. Working from established strategies and cross-departmental input, this position owns day-to-day execution of campaigns and communications, ensuring work is aligned, timely, and high quality.
This is a hybrid role with regular collaboration across teams and occasional evening or weekend support tied to events and campaigns. The right candidate takes direction, applies judgment, and follows through, consistently delivering strong work in a fast moving environment. Key Responsibilities Content & Communications Write, edit, and manage content across email, web, social, and print Maintain a steady communications cadence aligned with organizational priorities and campaigns Tell clear, compelling stories that reflect RBC's mission, work, and impact Shift comfortably between retail, education, and advocacy messaging Produce promotional and outreach materials that are accurate, engaging, and consistent with brand Identify and elevate stories from across the organization Planning & Execution Manage a communications calendar tied to organizational priorities Prioritize work to meet deadlines and maintain consistency Organize and maintain communications assets, including photos and campaign materials Collaborate with staff across departments to gather content and align messaging Deliver projects on time with strong attention to detail Development & Donor Engagement Write and produce donor communications, including appeals, acknowledgments, and stewardship messaging Support fundraising campaigns with coordinated, timely content Assist with donor engagement through clear and thoughtful communications Coordinate and support grant submissions, including drafting components, organizing materials, and tracking deadlines and reporting requirements Maintain organized records of development communications and grant activity Qualifications Required Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate clearly across audiences Experience in communications, marketing, development, or related work Ability to take direction, prioritize, and execute independently Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple deadlines and follow through Collaborative, reliable, and responsive Preferred Experience with donor communications, fundraising campaigns, or grant support Experience producing digital and print content Familiarity with communications and design tools Basic photography, video, or design skills Experience in nonprofit, sustainability, education, or community-based work Core Competencies Execution and follow-through Prioritization and time management Clear communication Judgment and decision-making Collaboration Adaptability and growth mindset Hiring Timeline: Position open until filled.
