Design Engineer (Winnipeg)

Your Opportunity VAW seeks an energetic and talented individual to fill the role of Design Engineer. Working with our Engineering team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for supporting the Large Industrial / Turbine Divisions as well as the Engineering Production Team. Responsibilities Work with the team to establish performance and design criteria Develop and document design concepts Evaluate design for structural integrity and manufacturability Interpret customer specifications and building codes Create manufacturing drawing packages, including assembly & part drawings, flat pattern development, shear lists & bill of materials Standardize and improve existing product designs Support VAW’s continuous improvement initiatives Develop an extensive knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and techniques Skills and Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Registered with the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or an Engineer‑In‑Training (E.I.T.) 4 – 10 years experience in product design and development within a manufacturing environment Experience using Inventor, AutoCAD, and MS Office Self‑motivated, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement Problem‑solver with the proven ability to meet goals and deadlines and balance the needs of internal and external customers Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Adaptable, flexible, dependable, patient, persistent, observant, and quality‑focused Solid team player who can work with employees at various levels within the organization Benefits Company events Dental care Disability insurance Employee assistance program Extended health care Life insurance On‑site parking RRSP match Vision care Wellness program Work Location: In person Closing date of this job posting: Monday, June 29, 2026.
