Job Description
Job Purpose To manage and ensure compliance with all Direct and Indirect Tax regulations applicable under Indian laws, including Income Tax, TDS, GST, Customs, and other statutory requirements. The role involves tax planning, compliance, assessments, audits, litigation support, and advisory services to minimize tax risks and ensure regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Direct Taxation Ensure timely preparation and filing of Income Tax Returns for the company.
Review and monitor compliance with provisions of the Income-tax Act, 1961 . Manage TDS/TCS compliance including deduction, deposit, return filing, and reconciliations. Prepare advance tax computations and coordinate timely payments.
Handle tax assessments, scrutiny proceedings, notices, and appeals before tax authorities. Support transfer pricing compliance (where applicable) and coordinate with consultants. Review tax positions and provide recommendations on tax-efficient structures.
Monitor changes in direct tax laws and assess their impact on business operations. Prepare tax provisions and deferred tax calculations in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Indirect Taxation (GST & Other Levies) Ensure compliance with provisions of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 (CGST) , State GST Acts , and Integrated GST Act (IGST) .
Review GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, and other applicable returns). Monitor Input Tax Credit (ITC) eligibility, reconciliations, and utilization. Handle GST audits, assessments, departmental notices, and litigation matters.
Ensure compliance relating to e-invoicing, e-way bills, and GST registrations. Provide guidance on GST implications for business transactions and contracts. Coordinate with consultants and legal advisors on complex indirect tax matters.
Support customs duty, import/export taxation, and foreign trade-related compliance where applicable. Tax Audits & Litigation Coordinate statutory audits, tax audits, internal audits, and GST audits. Prepare responses to tax notices and departmental queries.
Maintain documentation and records required for tax assessments and audits. Assist in litigation management and representation before tax authorities. Compliance & Reporting Ensure timely payment of taxes and statutory dues.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance reports for management. Develop and strengthen internal controls related to taxation. Conduct periodic tax risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain tax compliance calendars and statutory trackers. Advisory & Process Improvement Advise business teams on tax implications of transactions. Participate in business restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, and expansion projects from a tax perspective.
Identify opportunities for process automation and tax optimization. Support ERP implementation and tax configuration reviews. Qualifications B.Com, M.Com , DTL Experience 6–8 years of experience in Direct and Indirect Taxation.
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, FMCG, IT/ITES, or multinational organizations preferred. Exposure to assessments, audits, GST compliance, and tax litigation. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of: Income-tax Act, 1961 GST Laws (CGST, SGST, IGST) TDS/TCS provisions Customs and Foreign Trade regulations (preferred) Transfer Pricing concepts (preferred) Proficiency in ERP systems, and tax compliance software.
