Position Summary: As a Conflicts Analyst on the Legal Team, you'll be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis to identify and mitigate potential conflicts of interest. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, including Partners, consulting staff, and the legal team, to ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical standards. Your role is vital in the new business intake process, ensuring the firm can ethically and legally engage with new clients and matters.

Key accountabilities: Conflict of Interest Analysis : Perform thorough and timely conflict checks for new business opportunities, new hires, and new proposals. Analyze search results from internal databases and external sources (e.g., public records, company filings, news articles) to identify potential conflicts. Contract Review and Interpretation: Review , analyze, and interpret Master Service Agreements (MSAs), engagement letters, and related contractual documents to identify provisions that may affect conflict clearance or engagement parameters.

Flag issues promptly and escalate for additional legal review as needed. Database Management : Maintain and update the firm's conflict management system with accurate and detailed information. This includes entering new client and matter data and ensuring the integrity of the database.

Due Diligence and Research: Conduct in-depth research to establish corporate relationships and identify related parties to an engagement. Use analytical skills to interpret complex information and spot potential red flags. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly and concisely with partners and other stakeholders to report findings and provide actionable guidance on potential conflict issues.

Escalate complex or high-risk matters to senior legal team members for review and resolution. Policy and Procedure Adherence: Ensure all conflict checks and new business intake processes comply with the firm's policies, ethical guidelines, and legal regulations. Assist in developing and refining these procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Training and Mentorship: Assist in training new hires and consulting staff on the firm's conflict policies and intake procedures. May mentor junior team members. Special Projects: Support the legal team on various projects related to compliance, risk management, and data maintenance .

Qualifications Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in law (L.L.B.) or a related field is required. A paralegal certificate or other relevant certifications are a plus. Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in conflict analysis, risk management, or client intake within a law firm, consulting firm, or other professional services environment.

Contract Knowledge: Working understanding of contract law and experience reviewing and interpreting MSAs and engagement letters in a professional services or legal environment. Technical Skills: Proficiency in conflict management software (e.g., Intapp Open, Elite/3E) and external research databases (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet, Orbis, or similar platforms).
