About the Project The Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project is one of Canada's most significant infrastructure initiatives, replacing the existing Alexandra Bridge that has connected Ottawa, Ontario, and Gatineau, Quebec for more than 120 years.

As a vital interprovincial transportation corridor within the National Capital Region, the bridge serves thousands of pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and transit users while forming an integral part of Confederation Boulevard. Having reached the end of its service life, the existing bridge will be replaced with a modern, resilient crossing designed to meet the region's long-term transportation needs. The Alexandra Bridge Replacement Project represents a major investment in Canada's transportation infrastructure, supporting economic growth, regional connectivity, and community development while creating opportunities for skilled professionals to contribute to a landmark project that will serve Canadians for generations.

About the job Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, the Technical Manager in our Major Projects division will lead the technical planning and engineering coordination for complex infrastructure projects. Acting as the key link between design consultants, engineering teams, construction operations, and project stakeholders, this role is responsible for ensuring that all technical deliverables are fully coordinated, constructible, and aligned with project requirements. The Technical Manager oversees design development, engineering reviews, technical approvals, BIM coordination, and regulatory compliance throughout the pre-construction and construction phases, helping to drive efficient project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and technical excellence.

What you'll be doing Coordinate the activities of the technical office and external design firms, ensuring that all temporary works drawings (such as road accesses and plant platforms) and construction drawings are prepared in accordance with project requirements. Coordinate engineering activities related to civil works, plants, rolling stock, and all interfaces with the concessionaire. Prepare, in collaboration with the Project Department, scopes of work for assigning engineering services to external consultants.

Propose design improvements, project changes, and variations, and prepare the required technical documentation for client review and approval. Review and approve technical documents issued by engineering and technical service teams. Coordinate design activities to secure all technical and administrative permits, authorizations, and occupancy approvals required for project execution.

Maintain registers of project changes and approvals, ensuring that all construction drawings are updated to reflect approved revisions. Ensure construction drawings, working drawings, and shop drawings are developed and coordinated with appointed suppliers. Oversee geological investigations, geotechnical assessments, topographical surveys, and the technical and economic management of monitoring activities.

Review and approve technical specifications and documentation related to the procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services within the assigned area of responsibility. Collaborate with the Foreman to define construction methodologies and execution strategies. Interface with the LEED Manager to establish minimum technical specification requirements that support sustainability objectives.

Supervise the activities of external BIM teams, ensuring clash detection is completed and monitoring the progress of construction engineering deliverables. Perform all assigned responsibilities in compliance with the Quality Assurance System (QAS) Manual and applicable corporate policies and procedures. What we are looking for Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Construction Site Technical Manager on urban underground metro projects. At least 10 years of experience working within the rail, metro, or underground infrastructure sector. Proven experience coordinating SCADA systems, SIL2 safety systems, and operational interfaces.

Strong understanding of construction engineering, technical coordination, and multidisciplinary project delivery. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to deliver projects in a fast-paced environment. Why Choose Us? Expected Base Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 per year.
