Location/s: London, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Reading, Sheffield; UK Recruiter contact: Aoife Cullen Overview of the Role Our Decarbonisation team is seeking a carbon analyst to join our advisory team in the UK. The successful candidate will have experience within a similar role and will be actively involved in the delivery of decarbonisation consultancy services for a wide range of projects globally, ranging from infrastructure carbon management to strategy and advisory work. The role will include a mix of long‑term and short‑term projects nationally and internationally, working closely with the global Mott MacDonald climate change communities.

Your duties and accountabilities will typically include: Project delivery Support the delivery of carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and carbon management projects Successful delivery of projects to quality, time, and budget requirements Assess the performance of projects against national and international standards as well as industry best practices Inform the development of project design with regards to operational and embodied carbon Assist senior staff in providing strategic advice to clients to align their policies and processes to achieve net zero ambitions Develop data analysis as part of carbon assessment, ensuring traceability and robust calculations Report writing and presenting final results to our clients Professional excellence – be actively involved in the climate change community in Mott MacDonald with a focus on decarbonisation People and capability – assist more junior staff to build their own carbon skills and capabilities Support preparation of bid submissions and opportunity development, working in collaboration with Account Leaders and carbon specialists across a broad range of clients within the Transport, Water, Built Environment and Energy sectors Candidate Specification The successful candidate will be proactive, passionate, and eager to play a part in a growing team. We welcome applications from consultants with the following experience: Essential Experience in the delivery of carbon footprinting / lifecycle assessment (LCA) / carbon management projects across a range of project types (delivery against scope, quality, and budget), especially in the infrastructure sector Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels both within the company and across the wider industry Collaborative behaviours to maximise stakeholder engagement and to influence clients and project teams Good knowledge of legislation and policy influencing carbon and climate change, of key methodologies and data sources associated with carbon footprinting and carbon management, such as ISO14064, PAS2060, PAS2080 Good knowledge of industry initiatives to reduce the carbon impact of energy, transportation, construction and the built environment, with experience in such endeavours, coupled with well‑rounded knowledge on wider sustainability and climate change issues Capacity for flexible delivery – ability to think strategically “big picture” as well as deliver shorter term detail A degree/post‑graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline Excellent communication skills, including report writing and client presentations, and numerical analytical skills, including the use of Excel and other tools Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively Self‑motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work as part of a team and independently as required Desirable Some experience of net zero, carbon in construction, and environmental impact assessment, and working within EIA teams Understanding of related environmental topics such as air quality and climate change adaptation and resilience Knowledge of low‑carbon materials/processes/innovations in construction and the built environment Knowledge of the circular economy and experience of implementing CE interventions Experience in the use of LCA tools such as OneClick, E‑Tool, SimaPro UK Immigration Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK.
