** We are looking to hire 3 FT Medical Assistants as we work to add additional providers for the health center and at BEDS Plus in Summit. **
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the MA provides skilled clinical support to assist Providers, Advanced Practice Nurses, and licensed registered nursing staff in the care and treatment of patients. Treats patients professionally and with dignity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical
Obtain patient history interviews
Take and record vital signs
Assist with medical examinations/surgical procedures
Maintain inventory
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
Notify patients of laboratory results
Schedule patient appointments
Translate during medical interviews with non-English-speaking patients
Advanced Clinical duties
Educate patients about procedures. If there is competency verification, the Medical Assistant can do the following activities:
Perform visual acuities/ visual field screening and hand-held optoacoustic emission testing.
Remove sutures and staples
Perform CLIA waived on-site testing
Hemoglobin
Urinalysis
Glucose testing
Strep A Rapid Test
Urine HCG
Hemoglobin A1C
Perform venipuncture
Administer immunizations
Perform spirometry
Prepare/administer oral/intramuscular/intradermal/subcutaneous medications as directed
Perform ECGs
Administrative (as needed)
Assist Patient Service Representatives with front desk responsibilities
Assist with answering telephone and scheduling appointments
Assist the medication technician with processing authorized prescriptions
Other
Meets PCH health and immunization requirements or has an approved medical or religious exemption.
Adhere to OSHA guidelines for a safe work environment
Follows all rules required to comply with confidentiality and HIPAA policies.
Complies with applicable laws and regulations and the corporate compliance program
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant Training program.
Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Non-profit experience preferred
Experience in a hospital or community health center preferred
CPR certified
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency required.
DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES:
Ability to communicate medical procedures and terminology to and with patients & medical professionals.
Ability to multi-task.
Phlebotomy skills
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and be proficient with e-mail and internet communications.
Electronic Health Record Experience โ ECW preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Blood pressure machine, sphygmomanometer, computers, digital phones, scanners, fax and copy machines, tablets, digital projection devices, media presentation and recording technology.
SCHEDULE:
To support expanded hours of operation for the Health Center, daily clinic hours begin at 8 AM and close at 8:30 pm Monday-Thursday. The clinic closes at 5 pm on Friday and 1 pm on Saturday. Staff are required to provide coverage on at least one (1) evening each week and participate in a Saturday rotation.
PAY & BENEFIT INFORMATION
$17.50 - $23.00 per hour*
* Wage is based on one's experience and clinical skill competencies as compared with our position requirements and other similar employees within the organization. Staff are eligible for increases in compensation as clinical competency tiers are achieved.
