La Morocha in the Arts District Hiring: Bar Manager Location: Arts District, Los Angeles, California Employment Type: Full-Time About La Morocha La Morocha is the Los Angeles debut from acclaimed Chef David Castro Hussong and the team behind Mírate and DAISY Margarita Bar. Inspired by the spirit and flavors of Baja California, La Morocha combines elevated hospitality, thoughtful beverage programming, and a high-energy dining experience in the heart of the Arts District. We are seeking a passionate, organized, and hospitality-driven Bar Manager to lead daily bar operations, oversee beverage execution, and help build a culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and genuine guest connection. Position Overview The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the beverage program and bar operations, including staff leadership, service standards, inventory management, beverage costing, training, and guest experience. This role works closely with culinary leadership and front-of-house management to ensure operational consistency and financial success while maintaining a dynamic and hospitality-focused environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional with strong cocktail and agave spirits knowledge, leadership skills, and a hands-on management style. The Bar Manager will lead the development of the opening cocktail program, creating a beverage menu that complements and enhances the culinary vision and guest experience of La Morocha. The Bar Manager will also collaborate with the sommelier on the curation and development of the wine and beer program.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Service Lead and oversee all daily bar operations during service Maintain high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, organization, and professionalism Ensure consistent execution of cocktails, spirits pours, batching, garnish standards, and service procedures Support floor operations and overall guest experience as needed Monitor bar flow, ticket times, and labor deployment throughout service Develop and maintain SOPs for all bar systems and procedures Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations Beverage Program Collaborate on cocktail development, seasonal menus, and beverage features Maintain strong knowledge of agave spirits, Mexican beverages, wine, beer, and classic cocktails Oversee beverage costing and maintain target pour cost percentages Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and invoice reconciliation Conduct regular liquor inventory and assist with variance reporting and loss prevention Maintain relationships with vendors and distributors Leadership & Staff Development Hire, train, mentor, and develop bartenders and bar support staff Lead pre-shift meetings and ongoing beverage education Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, urgency, and hospitality Assist with scheduling while managing labor goals and staffing needs Conduct performance coaching and disciplinary conversations when necessary Ensure all team members understand and uphold company standards and policies Financial & Administrative Responsibilities Monitor bar sales performance and identify opportunities to drive revenue Manage labor and operational costs while maintaining service standards Review daily reports, comps, voids, and discounts Assist with payroll approvals and tip reconciliation as needed Support management with budgeting and operational planning Events & Programming Assist in planning and executing special events, collaborations, guest bartender nights, tastings, and brand activations Support beverage programming for private dining and large-format events Help create bar-driven experiences that build guest engagement and community presence Qualifications Minimum 3 years of bar management experience in a high-volume or upscale restaurant/bar environment Strong cocktail, spirits, wine, and agave knowledge Experience managing inventory, beverage costing, and labor controls Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced environments Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays Food Handler Certification and Responsible Beverage Service certification required Preferred Qualifications Experience opening new restaurants or bar programs Familiarity with Toast, 7Shifts, Craftable, and RESY Spanish language proficiency is a plus Passion for Mexican food, beverage culture, and hospitality Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance bonus opportunities Health, Dental, and Vision benefits 401K Dining discounts Opportunities for growth within a growing hospitality group How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief introduction outlining your hospitality background and why you would be a great fit for La Morocha.
