Remote Design Engineer - Building Automation Position Type: Full-Time Work Style: Remote Industry: Building Automation / HVAC Controls / Smart Buildings About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with strong experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) to support design, workflow development, and documentation for commercial and industrial projects. In this remote role, you'll collaborate with project teams to produce high‑quality designs that meet performance, energy, and integration requirements. This role requires a detail‑oriented engineer capable of interpreting plans, developing control system designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Applicants must be based in the United States due to project, compliance, and coordination requirements. Key Responsibilities Develop complete Building Automation System designs , including control diagrams, risers, network architecture, and sequences of operation Create and maintain project submittals, control drawings, points lists, and equipment schedules Work closely with project managers, programmers, and field technicians to ensure design alignment Review mechanical plans and specifications to accurately interpret system requirements Support the development of project standards and design templates Provide remote design clarifications and technical support during installation and commissioning Ensure all designs meet applicable BAS, HVAC, and electrical codes and best‑practice guidelines Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on equipment integration requirements Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in building automation , HVAC controls engineering, or MEP design Proficiency with major BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara , Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, ALC) Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical plans, and sequences of operation Ability to produce control drawings using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar design tools Familiarity with BAS communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail Must be located in the United States Preferred Qualifications Experience with engineering standards for ASHRAE, BACnet, or energy management Background in network architecture or IT-based BAS systems Niagara N4 certification or vendor‑specific BAS training Understanding of electrical fundamentals and low‑voltage system design What We Offer Competitive compensation and benefits Fully remote, flexible work environment Opportunities for ongoing training and career advancement Exposure to modern automation technologies and innovative building systems Supportive team environment with strong collaboration culture #J-18808-Ljbffr
